I was always surprised at how many people did not believe me when I said that or, conversely, used to look at me funny when I said it (like I must be "smart" or something. As if they never met one before!) <br /><br />I was paid to write a giant application for a University and also worked as a technical writer for a time. I've also published articles and such, so I have no problems with the word writer. <br /><br />In general, I have no problems sharing what I do, I think it's more other people that have problems hearing certain words. <br /><br />For some strange reason, certain words seem to set off certain people (words like artist, writer, etc. can really set some people off.
